Unity Immersive Design Certificate (Full Certificate)
The Unity Immersive Design Certificate program prepares you for careers in the growing field of 3D design through hands-on practice with Unity. You’ll gain a strong understanding of immersive design and learn how to deploy their VR and AR applications.
Through projects, you’ll practice your skills and build a portfolio of work to show to future employers, in addition to earning a certificate from University of Tennessee Non-Credit Programs and Tableau. This program was created in partnership with Unity and is fully online.
Unity Course #1: Build a Full Construction Site Tour
This course is designed to teach you how to use Unity’s real-time 3D rendering engine to build virtual reality applications used to design and visualize construction sites and conduct a site tour of 3D virtual environments. You’ll learn how to build interactive, standalone VR applications with realistic objects, audio, 2D and 3D assets, custom animations, interactive UI, and industry-standard locomotion techniques. You’ll also learn how to deploy their projects to an Oculus device, implement UX best practices for VR, strategize and design creative, immersive projects, and build custom strategies to integrate VR into external-party workflows. By the end of this course you’ll not only know how Unity fits into the VR application development pipeline, but also use its native features and tools to maximize their own applications’ quality, performance, and potential.
Unity Course #2: AR for Industrial Design Visualization
Augmented reality is a powerful 3D visualization tool, with the ability to place virtual, 3D objects in the real world. This course teaches you how to use Unity’s real-time 3D rendering engine to build mobile Augmented Reality applications for industrial design prototyping and visualization, bringing their 3D designs and models into real-world contexts. You’ll learn how to build mobile AR applications using industry-standard target techniques: image and planar retention. These applications will include interactive and responsive and interactive user interfaces, real-world interaction, realistic 3D audio, 2D and 3D virtual objects, and custom animations. You’ll learn how to build these applications for iOS and Android mobile devices and implement UX best practices for AR, and strategize/ideate around creative, immersive projects. By the end of this course you’ll both understand how Unity fits into the AR application development cycle, and also how to use its native features to maximize their application’s potential and quality.
